About Taryn

Hi, I’m Taryn Hart, and I’m proud to call myself the Mountain Bike Realtor. My love for mountain biking and the incredible trails of WNC isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way of life that shapes who I am and how I approach my work.

I’ve called WNC home since 2010, and I’ve been helping buyers and sellers navigate the real estate market here since 2017 with Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks. Living and working in this beautiful region has given me a deep connection to the community and a genuine understanding of what makes this area so special.

As someone who spends countless hours exploring the trails, I understand the unique lifestyle that WNC offers. Helping people find a home here isn’t just about real estate for me; it’s about connecting them to the same sense of adventure and community that I cherish so much.

Giving back to the trails that bring us together is deeply important to me. That’s why with every closing, I donate a portion of my commission to local trail organizations like Pisgah Area Sorba, Friends of Dupont, and the Pisgah Conservancy. It’s my way of ensuring that these trails remain a source of joy and inspiration for generations to come.

When I’m not helping clients or riding my bike, you’ll likely find me seeking out new adventures, sharing trail stories, or discovering the best after-ride spots in town.

RIDE RECOMMENDATIONS

Explore some of my favorite trails that promise thrilling rides and stunning views. From winding paths to challenging climbs, I think these spots are a must-visit for any biking enthusiast, and love to include these trails on my regular rotation.

RIDGELINE

Ridgeline is a crown jewel of Dupont State Recreational Forest. Not super tech-y, it is a lot of fun to ride this glassy smooth and generally well-bermed trail. Sight lines are fantastic and the flow is amazing.

Start the climb on Jim Branch from the lake imaging parking lot. This is also my favorite night ride loop!

REASONOVER

Starting with a thrilling downhill to Reasonover Creek, this trail features tight turns near the creek that keep you on your toes. The creek crossing can get a little sketchy when the water’s high, but don’t worry—stones have been placed to help guide you through. One of my favorite spots for a group photo is the view off the airstrip—it’s absolutely stunning.

SPENCER GAP / Fletcher creek

Pisgah Lite. Climb up wash creek from Horse camp until Spencer Gap. Spencer Branch is a great downhill. Fletcher Creek is even better.

If this route isnt rowdy enough for you, take Trace Ridge down instead of Spencer Branch.

RIDE KANUGA

Sometimes, a girl just needs some e-bike laps! Kanuga is a pay-to-play downhill park designed for e-bikes, but if you’re up for the challenge, you can tackle it on a regular bike too. The park has it all—tech, flow, and jumps, so you can test your skills on every lap. If you’d like someone to show you around, contact me—I’d love to give you a tour!

Avery Creek

This is a big one, so make sure to pack plenty of food, water, and repair gear for the journey. I recommend taking Clawhammer to Upper Upper Black Mountain for a killer route. If you’re not familiar with the trail, be sure to evaluate all features before dropping or jumping—safety first! It’s a ride worth the prep, so get ready for some epic Pisgah terrain.

MIDDLE and LOWER BLACK

Classic intermediate Pisgah goodness. Take the same climb on Clawhammer as Avery Creek, then continue on a short climb to reach the top of the recently re-routed Middle Black – which is a great intro to PNF. Continue descending Lower Black – an old-school favorite with a great balance of flow and tech.

AFTER RIDE SPOTS

The trails aren’t the only thing that make this part of Western North Carolina amazing. Check out some of these spots after some time in the forest to experience even more of what our area has to offer.

MORNING SOCIAL

In my opinion, nothing tastes better after a morning ride than The Greenhouse Skillet and a stack of Blueberry pancakes. If that isn’t your speed, their additional breakfast offerings are all amazing.

PISGAH BAKEHOUSE

From dirt to delicious—after a day on the trails, I usually land here for some of the best locally sourced food around. It’s so good, I’ll circle the lot if it’s full—and trust me, it’s totally worth it. The staff might even know me by name!

Ecusta Brewing & Gordingos building front

ECUSTA BREWING

There’s nothing like a post-ride beer at Ecusta Brewing, located right on the Brevard Bike Path. Their onsite food truck, Gordingo’s, makes for a great snack or meal. They have fantastic outdoor seating options, so if you show up muddy – no worries.

HENDOUGH

Sick laps at Ride Kanuga call for a visit to HenDough. I love any of their chicken sandwiches paired with fresh donuts—it’s the perfect combo!

Local tip: The last half hour they’re open, the donuts are 1/2 off. Don’t miss it!

CASA MEXICANA TAQUERIA

There’s nothing better than stopping by this authentic spot for one of each taco and a classic bottled Coke. Every bite is packed with fresh, vibrant flavors that feel like a celebration. Don’t leave without checking out the attached tienda, where you can grab some plantain chips to round out the perfect post-ride treat. I’m addicted to them!

Cognative MTB Coffee Shop Café

COGNATIVE BREW HOUSE

Cognative is a coffee shop, serving locally roasted coffee by Cooperative Roasters, and an apparel shop all in one. Grab some coffee, a pastry and some gear for your next ride!
